ACCOMMODATION

As a student at Te Puke High School, the following accommodation options are available to you:
(A)    Live with a Parent or Legal Guardian
(B)          Live with an approved Designated Caregiver
(C)         Live with an approved New Zealand Homestay Family

(A)       Live with a Parent/ Legal Guardian
For this option, the Parent/ Legal Guardian has total responsibility for the student.

(B)       Live with an approved Designated Caregiver
For this option, the Parental Authority for Designated Caregiver form must be completed and signed by the parent(s). The home will be visited prior to any student placement.  A checklist will be completed to confirm suitability and normal Police Vetting procedures will apply. Communication links will be established and monitored throughout the year.

(C)      Live with an approved New Zealand Homestay Family.
There are many language benefits to be gained from an International Student living in a “kiwi” homestay. Homestay families are very carefully selected by the Director of International Students, to ensure that each student’s interests and needs are met. All homestays are police vetted and are monitored twice yearly to ensure the student is safe and happy in their home environment.

This information is outlined in the Information Booklet for International Students.

Flatting is not permitted. The Accommodation Co-ordinator will inspect the homestay, complete the Police Vetting process, as well as continue to monitor living arrangements twice a year. Every attempt is made to match the student with a family who has similar interests.
